Faculty Q/A

What do you value and care about outside of your professional duties?

I love being in the outdoors and interacting with nature whether locally or in some farflung place. Protection of our natural ecosystems is very important and in my adventures I have seen a wide range of landscapes that have wildly different approaches to conservation. Some effective, some less so, but all offer a lesson to be learned.

What encouraged you to go into (and stay in) higher education?

Curiosity! Learning never ends and I feel very fortunate to be able to share my learning experiences with students and to learn from my students as well!

What are your own professional goals and aspirations?

To be the best person I can while living in the present moment, basically the philosophy of being here now.

What is your favorite place?

Honestly, anywhere that helps me re-center and be connected to the greater world in all of its forms.
