GES now offers an opportunity to earn a BA and a MA in Applied Geography through our Accelerated Master's Program (AMP). Eligible UCCS GES majors can complete both degrees in a streamlined manner, within five years. GES ranked a top 10 program! GISDegree.org publishes annual rankings of 'best geography programs,' and GES at UCCS earned the #8 ranking for 2025. Note that GES programs / degrees are not fully online but offer numerous online courses. See the rankings

The 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (informally known as COP29) was recently held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Rebecca Theobald, associate research professor, attended the first week of the conference as an observer for the US League of Women Voters. November 1, 2024 - EVENT 

GIS Celebration Day. Join Joseph Kerski, PhD, Education Manager, ESRI, as he shares a selection of GIS tools. GES will have a booth in the Columbine Hall foyer with videos, promotional materials, and geospatial tool demos throughout the day. All are welcome.

GES welcomes two new faculty members! Jennifer McLeod, PhD, is an Assistant Teaching Professor specializing in geology and Fuzhen Yin, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of GIScience. UCCS, GES, and the greater southern Colorado community are very fortunate to have these two superstars join the Mountain Lion Community!
